This Privacy Policy explains what Homegrown Budget (the “Service”) collects, how it’s used, and who it’s shared with. We keep it short. The defining posture: we do not connect to your bank, we do not sell your data, we show no ads, and the only information we have about you is what you give us.
1. Who we are
Homegrown Budget is operated by Ackee & Software Limited. For any privacy question, email support@ackeeandsoftware.com.
2. At a glance
- What we collect: the name and email address Apple shares when you sign in, and the budget data you enter yourself — categories, caps, transactions, notes, and receipt photos you choose to scan.
- What we don’t: bank credentials, transactions from bank feeds, passwords, precise location, contacts, advertising identifiers, or biometrics.
- Who we share with: a short list of infrastructure providers that run the app (hosting, payments, subscriptions, analytics). We do not sell or rent your data.
3. Information we collect
Account information. You sign in with Sign in with Apple. Depending on your choice, Apple shares your name and an email address (which may be a private relay address). We do not create or store a password.
Content you enter. Households, categories, monthly caps, transactions, notes, and — if you scan a receipt — the photo, which is used to extract the amount, date, and merchant.
Usage data. Coarse, anonymized product-analytics events (for example, that a screen was viewed or a category created) so we can understand which features are used and improve the app. These events do not include your budget amounts, notes, or merchant names.
Billing data. If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment. Through our subscription provider we receive your subscription status, plan, and renewal period — we do not receive or store your card number.
4. What we do not collect
We do not connect to your bank accounts or receive transactions via bank feeds. We do not scrape, buy, or enrich your financial data with outside sources. We do not collect precise location, device contacts, advertising identifiers, or biometric information.
5. How we use your information
- To operate the Service and show you your own data.
- To sync a shared household budget among its members.
- To process a receipt you choose to scan.
- To manage your subscription and free trial.
- To diagnose problems and understand aggregate usage so we can improve the app.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, ad targeting, or resale to third parties.
6. Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with the following providers so the Service can function. They process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes:
- Supabase — database and file storage (your account, budget data, and receipt images).
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and App Store payment processing.
- RevenueCat — subscription management (status and identifiers, not card details).
- PostHog — aggregate product analytics.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ourselves or others. We do not sell your data — we do not rent it, trade it, or make it available to advertisers.
7. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account; this promptly removes your account and the households you own — including all categories, transactions, and receipt images — for you and any members of those households. Records of App Store purchases are retained by Apple under its own policies, and we may keep anonymized or aggregated data that can no longer identify you.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to a household’s data is enforced at the database level, so only its members can read it. Your authentication credentials are stored in the device’s secure keychain. We take commercially reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is impenetrable; you can export your transactions to CSV from Settings to keep your own backup. See Section 11–12 of the Terms of Use for the limits of our liability in a security incident.
9. Your rights
From inside the app you can access and edit your data, export your transactions to CSV, and delete individual records or your entire account.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights under the GDPR (EEA/UK), the CCPA/CPRA (California), or similar laws — including access, portability, correction, deletion, and objection to certain processing. Email support@ackeeandsoftware.com to exercise them.
10. International transfers
The Service is operated from Jamaica, and our infrastructure providers process data in the regions where they operate (including the United States). Using the Service means your information may be transferred to and stored in those regions.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Analytics and tracking
Homegrown Budget shows no ads and runs no advertising trackers. We use PostHog for aggregate product analytics only, and we do not track you across other apps or websites — so the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll reflect them here and update the “last updated” date above.
14. Contact
